Mechanism of Action

Voltaren Emulgel Pain Relief Gel contains diclofenac diethylamine, an ingredient known as a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug. This active ingredient works by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are substances in the body which cause pain and inflammation. These substances are responsible for swelling of the joints, muscle and bone, and in some cases, skin. When applied to the affected area, the gel is absorbed into the skin and, when it is absorbed, it causes the pain and inflammation that are caused by inflammation.
